A Slice of Entrepreneurship: Middle School Business Class Visits Eepas Pizza

A Slice of Entrepreneurship: Bayfield Middle School Business Class Visits Eepas Pizza

Today, we’re taking you on a flavorful journey with a group of enthusiastic middle school students who recently embarked on an educational adventure at the renowned Eepas Pizza. This vibrant pizzeria, in the heart of Bayfield, has a special story to tell – one of hard work, dedication, and the sweet (or should we say cheesy?) taste of success.

“We’re known for our personal size 10” oven fired pizzas made on our traditional house crust (gluten free and dairy free options available too). We have many “specialty pizzas” but you can always choose your own from toppings from our BYO list. Yep, we also have sandwiches, salads, beer, 16” take and bakes (limited supply), and random special items when we can, including rotating specials. We prefer good food over fast food, so if there’s a wait, order a delicious drink, hang out, and relax… it’s worth it.”

The Road to Eepas

Right from the beginning, the students were on a path to discover the secrets behind this thriving independent pizza restaurant. and soon learned tha answer to the question, What in the world is this place? Eepa’s is a wood-fired brick oven food trailer slowly growing to include indoor and patio seating available with a limited bar. And nope, Eepa is not a person. “It’s what our kid called pizza when he was little, and it was so adorable, we named our place after it.”

A Slice of Entrepreneurship

Melissa, a passionate entrepreneur with an Italian heritage, welcomed the students with open arms and a warm smile. She regaled them with her entrepreneurial journey, which began with a dream and a lot of determination. From securing funding to perfecting her pizza recipes, Melissa’s story resonated with these young minds, teaching them that success often follows those who persevere.

The Q&A session that followed was a symphony of curiosity. The students were well-prepared with questions about the highs and lows of starting a business from scratch. They learned about the importance of customer service, the challenges of running a restaurant, and the satisfaction that comes from watching your hard work flourish into something incredible.

Behind the Scenes

The highlight of the visit came when the students were invited into the heart of Eepas: the kitchen.

Community and Giving Back

Eepas’ philosophy of being more than just a restaurant. Eepas had become a cornerstone of the Bayfield community, a hub for local events and fundraisers. The students discovered that business success isn’t just about profit but also about giving back and building strong connections within the community.

Courteous and Well-Behaved Students

Throughout the visit, our Business Class demonstrated exceptional behavior, proving that learning opportunities can be fun and respectful. Their courteous demeanor was a testament to their appreciation for the knowledge and experience they were gaining.

The Takeaway

They had not only learned valuable lessons about entrepreneurship but had also witnessed firsthand the magic that can happen when a dream, hard work, and community support come together.

This visit to Eepas Pizza was not just a field trip; it was a slice of inspiration, a taste of what’s possible when passion fuels a dream. It left these young minds with a sense of empowerment, knowing that the journey to success is often as delicious as the destination.

So, the next time you bite into a delicious slice of pizza, remember that there’s more to it than meets the eye. Behind every great pizzeria, there’s a story of determination, creativity, and community, just waiting to be discovered.
